Her major clinical practice areas of interest include the appropriate use of cardiovascular medications, anti-infectives, pain medications, and the provision of nutrition support. Dr. Kaakeh is a member of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists, American Pharmacists Association, American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy. In 2007, Dr. Kaakeh was granted certification by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties as a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist. Dr. Kaakeh is a 2009 recipient of the Purdue Teaching for Tomorrow Award. In 2009, the American Society for Health-System Pharmacy Foundation also presented the annual Pharmacy Practice Research Award to Dr. Kaakeh for an outstanding contribution to the biomedical literature that is relevant to pharmacy practice in hospitals and health systems.
