October 18, 2009: James E. Tisdale, Professor of Pharmacy Practice, was inducted as President of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy at their 2009 Annual Meeting, held in Anaheim, California.

April 10, 2009: Purdue University's Board of Trustees approved the following faculty promotions, effective with the 2009-10 academic year: Kevin M. Sowinski, Professor of Pharmacy Practice; David R. Foster, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice; Kimberly S. Plake, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice; and Alan J. Zillich, Aassociate Professor of Pharmacy Practice.

October 28, 2008: Pharmacists, who are federally required to provide educational services to some Medicare patients, are facing a number of obstacles that keep them from helping chronically ill patients, according to a new Purdue University study. Since 2003 pharmacists have been required to provide medication therapy management services for millions of Medicare patients. These patients, who qualify Medicare's Part D: Prescription Drug Plan, have multiple chronic diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease; have been prescribed several medications; and are paying at least $4,000 in out-of-pocket medication expenses per year, says Christy Nash, an assistant clinical professor of pharmacy practice and associate director of experiential learning. read more

August 18, 2008: Karen S. Hudmon, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, has been selected to receive the Indiana Public Health Foundation's Excellence in Health Sciences Research Award. She will receive the award on Oct. 2 at the foundation's annual Hulman Awards Dinner in Indianapolis. The Indiana Public Health Foundation Inc. is an independent, public not-for-profit health institute dedicated to promote and protect the health of the individual through education, research and resource management, to achieve a higher quality of life, a healthy environment, and to foster greater knowledge of public health.

July 17, 2008: James E. Tisdale, Professor of Pharmacy Practice, was chosen ACCP (American College of Clinical Pharmacy) President-Elect in annual elections held this spring. read more

June 27, 2008: Carol E. Birk, the Director of the Pharmacy Technical Assistance Program (PharmaTAP) was named as the new Executive Director of the Indianapolis Coalition for Patient Safety. read more

April 23, 2008: Judy T. Chen, Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice, was named as a 2008 Purdue Community of Service-Learning Faculty Fellow. read more

April 13, 2008: Kimberly S. Plake, Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice, was was awarded the Dr. Aziz Outstanding Teaching Award during the University's annual Honors COnvocation. read more

November 21, 2005: The Purdue University School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences began a new program earlier this year with the hopes of reducing medicine errors and increasing the interactions pharmacists have with patients. The medication intervention tracking program, which started in July, encourages final-year pharmacy students to document each contact or consultation with a patient. ...read more

September 27, 2005: Sharon M. Erdman, Pharm.D., Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago has been nominated by the Class of 2007 for this year's St. Luke's Day Teacher of the Year award. The class identified that Dr. Erdman deserves recognition because of her commitment to medical student education and consistently outstanding style of teaching.

June, 2005: Professor of Pharmacy Practice Bruce C. Carlstedt, PhD, FASHP, Professor of Pharmacy Practice, was recognized as a Fellow of the American Society of Health-system Pharmacists (FASHP) during the 2005 Annual Meeting of the Society in Boston.

April 18, 2005: Stanley L. Hem, Professor of Industrial and Physical Pharmacy, received one of six 2005 Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Awards in Memory of Charles B. Murphy on Sunday (April 17) during the university's annual Honors Convocation in the Elliott Hall of Music. ...read more

April 17, 2005: Two members of the Pharmacy Practice Department were honored during the university's annual Honors Convocation at the Elliott Hall of Music. Michael B. Kays, PharmD, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice was awarded the Professor Henry W. Heine Award for Excellence in Teaching. Robert W. Bennett, MSc, Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy was recognized with an Award for Excellence in Distance Learning, Best Noncredit Program. Bob was recognized for his distance-learning course "Internet-Based Diabetes Self Management Certificate Program."

April 8, 2005: The Board of Trustees of Purdue University approved faculty promotions for Robert W. Bennett and James E. Tisdale to the rank of Professor of Pharmacy Practice. Congratulations! The promotions are effective with the 2005-06 academic year.
