Pharmaceutical Care Resources – Long Term Care/Consulting/Geriatrics

Greenfield, IN 

Description:  A four week advanced clerkship rotation with a consulting pharmacist.  Disease states encountered while serving this rotation may include: Alzheimer's disease, 
arthritis, benign prostatic hyperplasia, bipolar disorder, cardiovascular disorders, congestive heart failure, diabetes, depression, gastrointestinal disorders, osteoporosis, pain, Parkinson's disease, thyroid disorders etc. 

Potential Student Activities:

1.  Review medical charts with the consulting pharmacist

2.  Present an inservice to a nursing home staff

3.  Perform pharmacokinetic dosing adjustments

4.  Interpret laboratory values

5.  Present a patient case

6.  Assist with other projects underway at the time of the student’s clerkship
