Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this rotation, the student should be able to:

1. Define the scope of responsibility for administrators of Pharmacy Practice Departments within Schools/Colleges of Pharmacy

2. Explain the components of a budget

3. Describe a process for annual performance review and merit salary allocation

4. Evaluate and modify coursework within a pharmacy practice curriculum

5. Prepare a budget to support an investigational study

6. Actively participate in classroom/laboratory teaching with the Head, Department of Pharmacy Practice

7. List contemporary pharmacy/drug therapy management challenges in the public hospital setting

8. Participate in the activities of the Medication Use Evaluation Committee, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Medication Safety Committee, and Pharmacy Management Team of Wishard Health Services

This rotation involves active participation in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at both its Wishard Health Services (Indianapolis) and West Lafayette, Indiana locations. The student will be involved in virtually all activities associated with the functions of the Head, Department of Pharmacy Practice. The rotation offers a diverse set of learning opportunities which relate to pharmacy administration within the academic and healthcare system settings.
