The Purdue University College of Pharmacy Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Programs are one-year postgraduate training programs focused on advancing patient care services and practice management skills in one of five community locations throughout Indiana.  They include a variety of types of community practices, each of which work closely with Purdue faculty to develop personalized residency experiences which include teaching, research, and patient care activities.

There are currently four community pharmacy residency programs affiliated with the Purdue University College of Pharmacy, offered by the following locations:

  • Mathes Pharmacy (New Albany, IN)
  • Walgreens Pharmacy (Indianapolis, IN)
  • HealthLinc (Valparaiso, IN and Mishawaka, IN)
  • Purdue University Pharmacy (West Lafayette, IN)

Each residency provides extensive experience in community-based patient care, including medication therapy management and disease state management activities; management/leadership activities; patient-centered dispensing; teaching; and practice-based research.  Residents receive significant mentoring to develop clinical practice skills.  Residents from each program have the opportunity for networking and shared learning through joint participation in a formal research project development discussion series, a business plan development series and a teaching certificate program.

Please visit our current residencies page for more information about each program, specific educational requirements, and application instructions.
