Program Details

This 2-year fellowship training program provides learners with a foundation in scholarship and practice pertaining to community pharmacy services. Fellows completing this program have an opportunity to refine their clinical practice skills, develop practice-based research skills pertaining to community pharmacy practice transformation, and gain experience teaching student pharmacists and PGY-1 community pharmacy residents. This program has been Peer Reviewed by the American College of Clinical Pharmacy.

Fellows are based at the Indianapolis office of the Purdue University Department of Pharmacy Practice. Learning experiences include:

  • Practice-relevant research engaging the Medication Safety Research Network of Indiana (Rx-SafeNet), a community pharmacy practice-based research network that is administered by the College of Pharmacy. Skill development includes:
    • research question refinement
    • protocol development
    • data management
    • data collection and analysis, quantitative and qualitative
    • grant writing
    • manuscript preparation
  • Completion of M.S. in Health Services, Outcomes, and Policy
  • Teaching and precepting Doctor of Pharmacy students and PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Residents
  • Patient care and practice advancement work with the Community Pharmacy Enhanced Services Network of Indiana (CPESN IN).

Eligibility

Candidates are expected to be licensed or eligible for pharmacist licensure in the state of Indiana. Candidates must have also completed a PGY-1 community pharmacy residency or have at least one year of experience as a pharmacist, preferably in a community pharmacy.

Application Process

Interested candidates should submit an application package consisting of a letter of intent, CV, and three letters of recommendation.  In addition, candidates should complete an online application for the graduate program and submit requested supporting documents at https://www.purdue.edu/gradschool/admissions/. After initial review of applications, final candidates will be required to participate in an onsite interview.

Application materials should be submitted by January 15th. An early decision option is possible for Purdue-affiliated community pharmacy residents.  Residents choosing to pursue this option should submit application materials by November 15th.
